I have never before thought to look into life insurance but, as a newlywed with my first baby on the way, I think it’s about that time.  I have spent my life dabbling in the arts from writing to painting so life insurance financing is something I know very little about.  I was hoping somebody could email me some advice or point me in the right direction to a website that will delve into life insurance premiums.  First off, I am ashamed to say I have no idea how life insurance even works!  Do I pay a monthly premium? Or is it an annual expense?  Like I said before, I am just starting out with my wife and the baby was a big surprise to us.  Needless to say, times are rather tight so I am especially looking for some cheap life insurance if there is such a thing. 

My wife is often out of town now staying with her mother up north in San Francisco to see their well-loved family doctor.  I would love to get all the paper work sorted out and complete before she returns so she can relax and not have to worry with the hassle.  That’s my other question, does she need to be present to sign anything?  Do we get joint life insurance as a married couple or is completely separate?  Clearly I am clueless and need any help I can get when it comes to this subject!  Thanks to any one who can help me with this matter.
